God’s Word is Not Chained
Kathy Krause ~ Minnekota Circuit
God's Word is not chained. 2 Timothy 2:9b
The apostle Paul was sitting in prison when he wrote these words to Timothy. He was reminding Timothy that although men would try to stop the spread of God’s Word, it wouldn’t happen.
In Acts 5, Gamaliel told his fellow Pharisees to “leave these men (Peter and the other apostles) alone! ...For if their purpose or activity is from God, you will not be able to stop [them].”
A small group of believers in Portugal was accepted into fellowship with our church body during the WELS Synod Convention this past summer. Where did they learn about God’s saving grace? What’s their “story”?
People in Nepal and Pakistan have heard the good news that Jesus died for the sins of all people and hunger for more spiritual food. They need and desire biblical materials in their own languages. Isn’t that awesome?
These people live in heathen countries and are eager to learn more. How did they hear about God’s love? Was it by word of mouth? Was it through a radio program? The printed word? An Internet search?
God uses many means to further his kingdom. Funds from LWMS help spread God's Word through missionaries, radio, and computer programs. Through LWMS, we are encouraged to share our faith with friends and neighbors and those around the world.
God has promised that his Word will accomplish what he wants it to. (Isaiah 55:11) What joy will be in heaven when people from every nation, tribe, people and language are there!
Praise and thank God that his Word is not chained!
