Love is in the air on Valentine’s Day, but for Christians love is always in the air. One of the questions in my personal devotion this week was, “In what way has Jesus’ life and death affected the way you live your life from day to day?” I wanted to answer that question with, “I shine for Jesus by always showing love to others every day and I live by faith without worry.” I was reminded that it’s not about me, so my answer is not valid.

What is the answer?  From Scripture we know and believe that living in Christ is based solely upon the sacrificial death of Jesus and His glorious resurrection from the grave, by which our heavenly Father has forgiven us our sins and declared us just and righteous. The Holy Spirit creates and strengthens saving faith that prompts us to live our lives in Christ.  With this trust and confidence in Christ’s redemption, we have the absolute confidence that we will spend eternity with him.

In Roman 5:8 we are told of God’s love for us, “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” May you all be confident in that love and compelled to share it with others not just in February, but every month of the year. “For Christ’s love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died. We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us.” (2 Corinthians 5:14, 20).
