Mercy. Delivered. For the next few weeks the sermon series at the church I attend will have a different one-word theme each week. When I was a maid of honor, I focused my speech on one word that described my friend: faithful. In the weeks ahead, I will introduce one word a week for a group of students learning a new way to communicate. It helps me focus on a lesson or a sermon when everything is built around a single word. If you were to describe your life right now in one word, what would it be? Busy? Thankful? Hurt? Loved? That one word could change daily, or maybe even hourly, depending on how you are handling the demands of life or what you had for lunch. Thankfully we have a Savior who is unchanging. There are many clear, unmistakable single words that describe him which will never change: love, forgiving, merciful, almighty, patient, kind, gentle, just, omniscient. May this unchanging God keep you forever in his arms. “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty, who was, and is, and is to come” (Revelation 4:8).
